Hi All!👋
Previously, we collaborated on two pieces for Founders. Excited to carry that tradition forward in Mortal Bloom.
Below are some ideas for how music and sound can help tell the story for this project.
MUSIC/SOUND (DIRECTION)
Here are some potential ways to sonify this rabbit hole of vines and oddities.
Organic, twisting melodies – Melodic lines that move unpredictably, like vines seeking space to grow.
Uncanny organic/inorganic hybrids – A convergence of natural and unnatural: synths processed to feel like living organisms, biological recordings twisted into something artificial.
Organic Plant foley – The uncoiling of vines, the slow unfurling of petals - textures that breathe and expand.
Swarming textures – Layered synths or processed sounds that evoke rustling leaves or teeming life.
Deep, pulsing menace – A subtle low-end presence, perhaps a creeping bassline that hints at peril without overwhelming.
Glowing bioluminescence – Bell-like textures to add an eerie, otherworldly shimmer.
Abstract/alien textures – Sounds whose origins feel unplaceable, pushing the edge of the familiar.
MUSIC (REFERENCES)
HERE is a sonic moodboard. Below are some key characteristics from the playlist that can serve as inspiration:
When I Try (:53-) – Meandering modular synth lines and vocal punctuations that feel inquisitive, as if we're exploring an unfamiliar world
What I Have, Convoy – Elongated textures/drones with an underlying sense of menace
Human Behavior, CATFISH – organic percussion and cavernous reverb
Juicy, Nannou - ethereal bells
Feels Like – Psychedelic delay tails and a crunchy, "exploded" saturation that distorts reality
Lost & Found, Sticky (1:44-) - Abstract/alien textures
ADDITOINAL REFERENCES
Here are some stylistic elements from my previous work that could serve as references for audio.
Glowing bioluminescence
Uncanny organic/inorganic hybrids
Abstract/alien textures
And that's it! Would love your input, and always open to other ideas :)
Thank you! 🙏 -Yuta
